Jefferson High School is one of the two high schools in Bloomington Independent School District. There are about 1 700 students at the school in grades nine to twelve. Jaguar is the school’s mascot. It completes in the South Suburban Conference in activities that are sponsored by the Minnesota State High School League in athletics, drama, music and academic teams. The school has a rich athletic tradition and has won forty-one team and fourteen individual state athletic championships in over thirty-six year history. 1 243 students participated in the athletic programs in 2011. It offers 34 athletic programs including 3 adapted sports. Anyone entering the building must report to the office to sigh in in order to ensure the safety of all staff and students of the school. All the visitors must wear a visitor badge while on school premises. The school offers an interesting program called SchoolView. It allows you to view your student’s busying information, grade, attendance, report card and immunizations online. You must get an access code to sign up before obtaining access. The personal access code is twenty varied characters long and must be entered exactly as it appears.

Jefferson high school

Jefferson High School is a part of Bloomington Public Schools. All they are focused on academic excellence. Nine of the schools are National Blue Ribbon Schools of Excellence and another six have received Minnesota School of Excellence designations. Their distinction is due in large part to both talented and dedicated team of staff, who consistently earn both state and national recognition for their efforts in educational excellence. The high school Jefferson has Counseling Department which has a mission. It is to provide a comprehensive developmental school that counsels program to address the academic, postsecondary and social development of all its students. Jefferson Counselors implement appropriate programming to assists students in career and college preparation and readiness with the support of the Career and College Resource Center which is also known as CCRC. Licensed school counselors facilitate, advocate and leverage resources to ensure that all students have access to and are prepared with knowledge and skills to contribute as productive members of society. All the counselors of Jefferson High School work with parents, students and teachers. Furthermore they work and with the community to met the diverse needs of the student population. There are other high schools that care the name Jefferson. They are located in Portland and Los Angeles. Both institutions offer quality education to all the students that enroll in them. The administration of the school works very hard in order to ensure the best environment for the students. One of the main members is Kevin Groebner. He grew up in Bloomington graduating from Lincoln High School in 1971. He is a principal of the school but previously he served as Assistant Principal in Jefferson beginning in the fall of 1998. Justin Hall is Assistant Principal. He is a former graduate of the school and completed his Bachelor of Science Degree in Mathematics at the University of the Minnesota.
